Culture in Thought
Welcome to my blog!
For a long time I have been noticing the absence of regular public discourse about the topics that concern me most. I have also found limited opportunities for the public to get to know me better, especially the why’s and how’s of what I do. I have been wanting to create a forum for sharing the ideas that inspire my work, that challenge me to grow, and resonate with my day-to-day experiences as a young artist, educator, entrepreneur, and spiritual being. Mostly, I wish to generate a discussion, between me and you, and I hope you participate.
Blog entries will cover a range of topics regarding dance, the arts, creativity, bharatanatyam, Indian culture, American culture, spirituality, self-improvement, autonomy, entrepreneurship, arts education, and the process and progress of Soham Dance Space and my personal endeavors. That’s a list of most things that preoccupy me as I shape my life and career. If any of the subjects interest you, please do read along and tell me what you’re thinking!
I call this blog “Culture in Movement” because the bharatanatyam dance form is one that embodies a profound culture from India. More generally, the arts are often an expression of culture and a means for knowing more about it. Culture, whether it is personal or collective, is the harmonious integration of thoughts, words, and actions. While the dance I perform and teach is the culmination of my personal culture, its apparent movement is deeply connected to how I think, and this is why I open up to you in this blog.
